The reality that Android malware is an intensifying issue comes as no surprise, Kaspersky labs found that 99% of freshly discovered malicious mobile apps target the Android platform and nother 1% targeting Java- and Symbian-based smartphones.
The majority of Android malware can be divided up into three primary groups according to functionality. “SMS Trojans” drain victims’ mobile accounts by sending SMS texts to premium-rate numbers.
In 2012, Kaspersky discovered an average of 6300 new mobile malware samples each month. The number of known malicious samples for Android increased more than eight times from 2011 which was around 800 samples a month.
