The censorship first started with Newzbin and The Pirate Bay, but soon evolved into a massive censorship campaign fueled by money.
Now, the largest torrent and P2P sites in the world are all blocked in the UK, of course, that’s not ending pirates from accessing them. Bypassing the ban is trivial thanks to the huge number of proxy sites that have popped up allowing an encrypted and masked connection to Pirate sites.
Sky Broadband, a large UK ISP has quietly began blocking access to a multitude of proxy sites, TorrentFreak has discovered.
It’s unclear whether the block was the ISP’s thought or whether it was pressured to add the sites to the black list. If that’s the cause, the alternative Internet providers in the UK should follow suit soon.
The new block affects proxies for The Pirate Bay, H33t, KickassTorrents, Movie2K, Fenopy – pretty much all the sites blocked in the UK already.
