Neiman Marcus also breached this Holiday Season

Neiman Marcus is informing shoppers of a information breach after hackers stole vendor card details on an undisclosed amount of shoppers.

The expensive retailer stated it is dealing with the U.S. Secret Service as well as a forensics agency to look into the breach, which was learned about in December from the merchant card processor.

”On January 1st, the forensics firm discovered evidence that the company was the victim of a criminal cyber-security intrusion and that some customers cards were possibly compromised as a result,” Neiman Marcus warned in the email.

”We have begun to contain the intrusion and have taken significant steps to further enhance information security,” the company added.

Neiman Marcus didn’t declare what sort of break-in took place or what number of its consumers are impacted, nevertheless they verified some customers’ card numbers were utilized improperly after they shopped at the store.

”We are taking steps, where possible, to notify customers whose cards we know were used fraudulently after purchasing at our stores,” the company said via Twitter late Friday.

This statement by the company was followed by the Target breach where 40 and upwards to 110 million people were impacted.  The target breach addition to credit and debit card numbers, thieves also took customer names, mailing addresses, phone numbers or email addresses, Target said in a statement posted Friday.
