GoToMyPC has been targeted with “very sophisticated password attack,” and is informing all users to reset their account passwords asap.
In an announcement on its site, Citrix, which operates the remote control solution, said users are going to be forced to reset their GoToMyPC password before they’re able to login again and encourages users to apply two-factor authentication.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this issue may be causing,” Citrix stated.
The service didn’t verify if they’ve been hacked, but it sounds like a brute force attack is targeting their services. The best way to defend against this is a complex password and using different passwords for every website. This hack also follows an alleged breach on the popular remote access tool, TeamViewer where many users had their computers access remotely while they weren’t present.
