Google declared late last week it would begin blocking the silent installation of extensions on its Chrome browser.
In a blog post by Google, Chrome’s product managing director Peter Ludwig reported the problem that led to the modification and two new features present on the latest iteration of the browser, Chrome 25, released last week.
Before the alteration, users could have had extensions installed on their browser silently, without their permission via Windows registry mechanics. Obviously this can lead to malware, and malicious extensions being installed.
