Apple iOS 6.0.1 fixes for WPA2 and Exchange

iphone5 165Apple released the first update to iOS 6 since it was released on September 19, 2012. iOS 6.0.1 was released via a free Over The Air (OTA) update to iPhone and iPad users running iOS 6.  The new update iOS 6.0.1 fixes a bug that prevents some iPhone 5s from downloading OTA updates.

According to CNET, it does this by installing a special “iOS updater” app to help the process along.  The app is removed from the device after 6.0.1 is installed.

The update contains improvements and bug fixes, including:

  • Fixes a bug that prevents iPhone 5 from installing software updates wirelessly over the air
  • Fixes a bug where horizontal lines may be displayed across the keyboard
  • Fixes an issue that could cause camera flash to not go off
  • Improves reliability of iPhone 5 and iPod touch (5th generation) when connected to encrypted WPA2 Wi-Fi networks
  • Resolves an issue that prevents iPhone from using the cellular network in some instances
  • Consolidated the Use Cellular Data switch for iTunes Match
  • Fixes a Passcode Lock bug which sometimes allowed access to Passbook pass details from lock screen
