Southeast Eye Institute takes a hit after Bizmatics breach – 87,000 patients at risk

The Southeast Eye Institute (Eye Associates of Pinellas) with several offices located in Florida has been impacted by a breach at Bizmatics, inc.  The breach effected their PrognoCIS Electronic Health Records (EHR) products and services, putting 87,314+ patients at risk.

The breach took place in January 2015, and on the 30th of March, 2016, The Southeast Eye Institute was notified by Bizmatics, inc that Names, Social Security numbers (SSNs), addresses, phone numbers, DOBs and insurance information has all been compromised in the hack.  Bizmatics states they are unable to to determine what patient information was accessed and how many files they took, the good news is no payment information was compromised.
