In accordance with AB Acquisition, the information breach seemed to involve Jewel-Osco stores in Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa; Albertsons stores in California, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming; and Shaw’s and Star Markets stores in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Bloomberg reports data may have been stolen from cards used at Supervalu stores from June 22 to July 17.
Officials with Jewel’s parent organization, AB Acquisition declared that customers whose debit or credit cards may have been affected could get 12 months of free consumer identity protection services through AllClear ID by calling 855-865-4449 beginning 3 p.m. Chicago time on Friday.
“We have had no evidence of any misuse of any customer data,” Supervalu Chief Executive Officer Sam Duncan said in the statement. “I regret any inconvenience that this may cause our customers, but want to assure them that it is safe to shop in our stores.”
AB Acquisition also urged people to monitor their charge card and debit card statements as well as their credit reports. Customers may also place a fraud alert on their credit report by getting in touch with the three major credit agencies: Equifax, Experian, and Transunion.
