IT security company Secunia has determined to break off its Secunia Vulnerability Coordination Reward Program (SVCRP).
According to the company, the SVCRP has aided a multitude of companies and investigators over the past two years. Even so, the program does not appear to be profitable enough for Secunia.
“Our decision to discontinue the program after all, is because Secunia, as a commercial organization, must assess our initiatives continuously,”
Kasper Lindgaard, head of research at Secunia, wrote in a blog post.
“The decision to end the SVCRP is based on the conclusion that the amount of time and effort we put into the program, outweighs the benefits to our own organization. This discrepancy unfortunately means that we cannot warrant the continued investment into maintaining the SVCRP,” he added.
Secunia is no longer admitting any fresh entries to the program. Nevertheless, all submissions picked up before August 16, 2013, will be worked on.
