Indian Navy infected via usb drives

Suspected Chinese hackers managed to swipe classified data from maximum security, non-internet attached PCs via malware concealed on USB drives.  The Indian Eastern Naval Command – which is presently managing trials of the country’s first atomic missile submarine, INS Arihant – was the target of the attacks, which were first revealed at the start of the year, according to the Indian Express.

A “person familiar with the investigation” disclosed that thumb drives were recovered at the site. These were seemingly tainted with malware which, when placed in the standalone computers, covertly gathered data according to certain keywords.

The report claims six officers are awaiting strict disciplinary action after the incident, although there is no mention that any of them may have been acting maliciously.
