Norton Utilities Source released by The Lords of Dharmaraja hackers on January 13th after threatening to release on January 8th, their pastebin post http://pastebin.com/JivCcr15, this groups is allegedly operating in India.
“Symantec has confirmed that, the Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 and Symantec Antivirus 10.2 version source code has been compromised and obtained by the group”
The group had threatened to publish the entire source code of Norton Antivirus, in the pastebin link above, that they allegedly had stolen after hacking into India’s Military Intelligence. They also posted some of the source code.
Imperva commented,
“If the rumors turn out to be true, the implications of the anti-virus code leakage will not keep the Symantec folks awake too late at night, and certainly not their customers,” Imperva said. “After all, there isn’t much hackers can learn from the code which they hadn’t known before.”
Symantec had tried to calm everyone down by saying the code that was posted was nothing special, but later they had confirmed that Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 and Symantec Antivirus 10.2 has been compromised, and later was released.
