The database has been added to the breach notice site “Have I Been Pwned?” for the site’s users to see if they’re impacted by the hack. For now, privacy activist, Thomas White, also known as TheCthulhu, has published the full database publicly, for anybody to download.

Established in 2000, Muslim Match is a free-to-use site for men and women seeking companionship or marriage. “Single, Divorced, Widowed, Married Muslims :: Coming together to share ideas, thoughts and find a suitable marriage partner,” the site’s Facebook profile reads.

One file also includes roughly 790,000 private messages sent between users, which contains everything from religious discussion and small talk to marriage proposals.

Looking at by the IP addresses, Muslim Match’s users are based worldwide, including the UK, Pakistan, and the US.

The Muslim Match hacker may have used SQL-injection to obtain the data, judging by the format the files are in.
