A blog post released by Twitter explained anonymous hackers have been able to obtain around 250,000 usernames, email addresses and passwords.

Twitter has noticed a recent boost in security breaches this week at a number of U.S. media and technology companies.

The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal documented that their computer systems have been penetrated by China-based hackers.

Twitter sent out an email to reassure its users following the “unusual access patterns” that led to “unauthorized access attempts to Twitter user data”.  It stated that is has reset the impacted accounts and sent users emails advising them that they’ll have to reset their passwords.
